Invisible Landscapes

Last night, I had the pleasure of viewing a new film at the Speed Art Museum here in Louisville called Invisible Landscapes. It follows a group of musicians using highly sensitive microphones to record different types of natural and industrial sounds in an effort to bring more awareness to the effects of climate change. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

The entire experience reminded me of when I used to walk around and record different sounds wherever I was living, then transfer them to my computer to create new beats and rhythms. The film was followed by a stirring musical performance by a group called Fyield, making use of many of the sounds that were captured in the film. Thank you so much to the Speed for continuing to offer such high quality programming!
